When a homeowner is presented with flooding, they may feel overwhelmed by the cleanup process. Water damage is stressful enough without adding the physical labor of cleaning the house and restoring damaged materials.

Fortunately, most people don’t have to deal with it on their own. Hiring the right water damage restoration crew takes the stress out of cleaning up a flooded bathroom.

How can homeowners make sure they are choosing a team of professionals they can trust to do the job right? While many companies claim to offer the best services, homeowners should only hire a crew that can back up their claims with past projects.

Case studies are an excellent way for customers to understand a
water damage company's process and workmanship. Residents of Cumming, GA and surrounding areas should check out the following case study to see just how The Homestar Group can help with a bathroom flooding cleanup.

The Water Damage Problem

When The Homestar Group was first contacted by a homeowner in Cumming, they learned of the flood. The water had flooded from damaged pipes in the bathroom and spread throughout other areas of the home.

The homeowner requested that The Homestar Group come to the house to complete an assessment so that they could offer a plan for the bathroom flooding cleanup. However, that wasn’t the only project they had in mind.

Since it was evident that the flooring had become damaged in the process, the homeowner decided to use the cleanup as an opportunity to remodel all of the flooring in the rest of the house.

The Homestar Group’s Proposed Solution

When The Homestar Group arrived on the scene, they had the tools they needed to assess the damage and its extent. Their tools could help them read moisture levels in different materials so that they could identify which areas were affected by the flood.

Based on their findings, the contractors discovered that this would be a huge bathroom flood cleanup. Not only did the broken pipe create water damage in the bathroom, but it also spread to flooding in other rooms and even ceilings under the bathroom.

For this particular job, The Homestar Group was responsible for:

  • Repairing the Pipes
  • Cleaning up the Water
  • Installing New Flooring, Drywall, and Paint

The Bathroom Flooding Cleanup Process

Repairing the Broken Pipes

One of the very first things the contractors had to do was repair the pipes so that the water damage wouldn’t occur again. Fortunately, they have access to the training and tools to repair damaged pipes and plumbing, so they were able to successfully repair the broken pipe in the bathroom.

Cleaning up the Water Damage

From there, the process of cleaning up the water began. The contractors used their state-of-the-art equipment to remove any standing water from the house. Their wet/dry vacuums and pumps made the process go by much more quickly, so they could mitigate any secondary water damage risks.

They also utilized commercial air movers and dehumidifiers to completely remove any moisture that remained in the air and materials. Their moisture meters allowed them to check the area to make sure that the area was totally dry.

Reconstructing and Remodeling

Since there were many building materials that were damaged beyond repair, the contractors had to remove and replace them. The drywall in some of the rooms and ceilings had to be removed. Once they installed the new drywall, they painted it so that the house would return to its pre-loss condition.

The flooring also had to be replaced in some areas of the home. Ultimately, the homeowners decided that they wanted to remove all of the flooring in the home so that there wouldn’t be any carpet. They then requested that the contractors install new flooring throughout the entire home.

This particular request was a large change order, and it went well beyond the insurance claim. However, The Homestar Group was happy to accommodate the request so that the homeowner would be completely satisfied with the result.
