A Water Damage Restoration Project in Idlewood Parc Crossing
Jun 08, 2022

The most frequent requests our technicians entertain at The Homestar Group include house calls for water damage restoration. Most residents and business owners know that water damage can present grave problems down the line that can decimate their homes and places of business if they leave it unattended.

Most homeowners only get a few hours to have water damage repaired. Structural issues and flood damage will become permanent and costly to undo if you leave floodwater or even clean water standing overnight.

In this case, a residential customer from Idle Parc Crossing saw us after having a water heater failure, causing massive damage to carpets, walls, and baseboards. You can find pictures of this water damage restoration project below. We will explain how we brought this home back to brand-new condition through our remodeling and maintenance expertise and how we can do the same for you if you suspect your home becomes affected by water damage.

Project Description

Our water damage restoration team got a call from an Idlewood Parc Crossing resident experiencing a water heater failure.

Leaking water heaters are commonplace in Sawtooth, Mableton, and Idlewood Parc Crossing. Many residential units there are more than 15 years old, and aside from consuming more power to produce less heat, they become prone to leaks. If you do not request professionals like us perform periodic checkups and maintenance activities on them, they will begin leaking and wreaking havoc on your home.

This water heater had sediments accumulating inside it, which soon began corroding its valves and heating elements, producing a leak on the underside and around the rim. Our technicians continue to receive more calls like this one as more people get comfortable moving into homes without double-checking water sources and the fixtures attached to them. In addition, they may buy appliances from virtually unknown manufacturers. This homeowner went through the necessary precautions but still suffered a leak.

We think the heater released warm water for about half an hour before somebody saw what was going on and called us through our emergency hotline.

Project Solution

We broke out our vacuums and dehumidifiers and got to work. We had to dry and look behind every corner to eliminate the possibility of future mold and mildew growth while creating a list of everything we had to replace. We knew we had to demolish and rebuild a few areas when the drying phase was over.

We took out sections of the hardwood floors, baseboards, and drywall. We also removed large swaths of carpet as mildew loves to grow on fabrics, especially ones with cotton sewn into them.

We put in new engineered wood flooring, carpets, and drywall before repainting the areas we rebuilt. Our sustainable water-resistant paint can help our customers prevent spending money on water damage restorations for years to come.

The Result

This water damage restoration project ranked as one of the most extensive we have ever done in Idlewood Parc Crossing, but we knew it was worth it once we saw the expression of relief on our client's face. After protecting this home from water damage for decades, we had the pleasure of adding another name to our growing list of satisfied customers in Georgia.
