The Atlanta Botanical Garden is a 30-acre botanical garden in Midtown Atlanta, Georgia, United States. It is located close to Piedmont Park. The garden was founded in 1976 with the mission of "develop and maintain plant collections for the purposes of display, education, conservation, research and enjoyment."

History of the Atlanta Botanical Garden

The Atlanta Botanical Garden was bought in the early 1970s by an Atlanta businessman and his wife and opened as the South's first private garden museum in 1977. The garden's $20 million Atlanta Natural History Museum opened in 1990. The whole garden and museum complex was recognized as an Atlanta Heritage Site in 2001, establishing it as a cultural heritage monument and transferring it to the City of Atlanta.

The gardens and museum, which are home to over 300 plant varieties, attract over one million people each year and provide a range of activities and events.

Why Should You Visit the Atlanta Botanical Garden?
